Our Mission Statement

Financial literacy rates in the USA continue to be at extremely low levels. Years after the financial crisis of 2008, 66% of American adults cannot pass a very basic financial literacy quiz.

The impact of this lack of knowledge is felt beyond the results of a quiz. Too many people spend more than they earn. Young professionals earning six figure salaries are drowning in debt. 44% percent of American adults don't have enough money saved to cover the cost of a $400 emergency. 33% have saved nothing for retirement. 56% have saved less than $10,000. Too few people know how to effectively manage their 401(k) plan, the lifeblood of their retirement savings.

The mission of the Saucon Creek Institute for Financial Literacy is to increase people's knowledge of personal finance concepts and improve their financial decision making. Through research, collaboration, curriculum development and educational training programs, the institute hopes to provide high-quality, researched based education that ultimately improves the financial status and quality of life for all Americans.
